Oceans are Us is JGI India’s Ocean Literacy Programme (2022 - 2023)
supported by The Habitats Trust. This programme draws attention to
our Ocean as an integral and critical component on of life on earth.
It showcases the beauty of the life in the ocean and the marvels of
its seascapes. It also examines human impact and its consequence on
the Ocean. Oceans Are Us is run through our Roots & Shoots network.
It allows young and curious minds to explore, learn, collaborate,
plan and act towards creating a lasting change; one that helps
restore the health and natural splendour of our oceans.
Some of the projects developed by students include coastal and tidal
zone exploration walks, field trips to mangroves, beach and river
clean-up campaigns.
JANE’S MESSAGE
We must not give up hope. Every single day that we live, we make some impact on the planet. We have a choice as to what kind of impact that is. I truly believe we have a window of time during which we can beg into heal some of the damage we’ve inflicted and atleast slow down the crisis. But we have to act now.
